festival future me
The second edition of festival Future Me is happening right now in Kisumu, Kenia!
This year we’re bringing two different groups of children together. The children with special needs from the st Martin school Nyabondo and the children of the Sabako school. In African society, children with special needs are being taken care of in a very closed environment. They almost never go out and experience a different atmosphere. This year Future Me is connecting these two groups of children so that they interact with each other and see that they are equal. They will see that they share the same passion and joy for dance and theatre.
Together with local artists Catherine Enane and Robert Owiti, we will train and guide the children. We will develop and nurture their individual talents. Also, we’ll work towards a performance that they will show at festival Future Me on the 19th of August.
This year we are also collaborating with students of the Theatre and Music department of the Maseno University. We will create a performance with them, to showcase it on the festival. We will also train the students on how to work creatively with children from the mentioned schools, with the aim to develop their artistic skills and give an experience on how to work creatively with children.
On the 19th of August both schools will attend the festival Future Me on the Maseno University. The children will meet each other, exchange experiences and show their performances.
